The first time I came across Annmarie Gianni’s organic, natural and wildcrafted skincare, I was instantly intrigued. What does ‘wildcrafted’ mean, anyway? Is it organic, natural, or something else? That question swirled in my head and I felt compelled to immediately google the company and its products.
Carrying the tagline ‘Honest. Wild. Beautiful.‘, Annmarie Skin Care (ASC) presents us with ingredients that are natural and beyond organic. Really? Now, what does it mean ‘beyond organic‘? More questions….
What is ‘Organic’?
In my previous posts, I mentioned the difference between natural, organic and conventional skincare products.
When there is organic certification, eg USDA 0rganic seal, the consumers are assured of the quality and integrity of the organic products. This is because organic-certified operations have an organic system plan and records that verify their compliance with that plan. There are annual inspections and random checks performed to assure standards are being met. However, getting organic certification and maintaining it can be very, very costly. Small companies usually could not afford it.
Therefore, though I adore certified organic products, I do not limit myself to only those products. I also love to discover and use natural products as evidenced from my use of natural products such as Tea Bird Tea, Human Nature and Claire Organic. Hence, my sense of adventure in skincare has brought me into the lovely world of Annmarie’s skincare, bodycare and cosmetics.
Annmarie Gianni’s Organic, Natural and Wildcrafted Skincare
Annmarie Gianni’s products contain mostly organically produced and natural ingredients. Natural means they are free of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms, or ionizing radiation.
Some ingredients (eg herbs) are actually hand-picked or gathered from the mountains, forests or jungles where they grow wild. Therefore, it’s impossible to have ‘Organic’ label on the packaging. As I’ve mentioned above, organic certification requires systematic approach and records. So, ASC products are labeled as ‘wildcrafted‘ instead.
Nonetheless, in essence, the wildcrafted herbs are the most organically grown ingredients they use. Additionally, if they use water in their products, they use natural spring water directly from the source, which also cannot be labeled organic.
Besides the wildcrafted herbs, ASC source their ingredient from farmers who care about producing quality, organic products. This is one way that ASC support small, independent organic farmers. However, they may not always be certified as certification can be very costly.
ASC choose every ingredient specifically and consciously, taking into account aspects beyond just organics. They look at sustainability, labour conditions, and geographic location of the ingredients they source. Furthermore, they also pay special attention to the source of their products and the production methods. They do not use synthetic chemicals, preservatives and fillers. Therefore, choosing an Annmarie Skin Care product means that we are using natural ingredients in every sense of the word.
In short, their products are:
- Organic, natural and wildcrafted
- Carefully handcrafted in small batches so that you’ll fall in love with them and see great results
- Formulated with active amounts of ingredients
Straight From Nature
ASC use herbs and extracts straight from nature—in their finest and purest form. Basically, they hand-select all ingredients, then infuse them in base oils and aloe juice, before putting in additional plant extracts and ingredients to make them as effective as possible.
Their 3-step, Honest. Wild. Beautiful. proprietary process are elegantly articulated in their website as follows:
- They carefully select the organic and wildcrafted ingredients (including herbs and plant extracts) to meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness for our skin and body. The sources are also carefully audited to ensure that they continue to meet the company’s standards of purity and sustainability.
- Then they infuse selected herbs into aloe vera and into skin nutritive oils for up to 30 days at low heat (never over 95°). Annmarie Gianni uses these infusions as a potent base for all their products.
- Afterwards, they add additional, selected natural plant extracts, high antioxidant plant and seed oils, skin supporting nutrients and aromatherapy to make the most active and effective natural products available. Additionally, they package the products using Miron glass and sustainable materials.
Fantastic, isn’t it?
Time for more wonderful news!
Who doesn’t like free samples, especially when they are high quality and highly respected and recommended such as Annmarie Gianni’s? Of course, I got myself a pack. This is the sample kit which I received – Balance.
I didn’t decide on it myself. In spite of my age, I found that I still have normal/combination skin after I took the skin test or Skin-IQ. The other samples are Restore (Dry/Mature skin) and Purify (Oily skin).
If you order a sample kit, it will contain 2 items – a Cleanser and a Face Oil. Naturally, natural cleanser does not foam, so don’t be surprised when the cleanser doesn’t feel soapy or bubbly. The Balance face oil is glorious, and smells gorgeous. When I used them, it felt like being in a spa, located in a cool, tropical retreat.
Although I paid $10, the sample kit is actually free because I received a $10-Off coupon for my next full-sized purchase. And that includes shipping anywhere in the world, plus a digital copy of their Toxic Free Home Guide (a $24.95 value) for free. It’s a beautiful guide to ridding the home of toxins, replacing them with clean brands and DIY recipes.
