While strolling around KLCC during the Raya holidays, I came across Daionica Coconut Oil. I was instantly intrigued because the coconut oil is stated to be natural, organic, premium VCO (virgin coconut oil) and there were a few scents to choose from (natural, lavender, rose and ylang ylang). Really irresistible to me – another potential adventurous purchase to add to Skincare Terbaik range of skincare products. In my heart, I was jumping with joy!
Why Coconut Oil?
I have read many benefits of coconut oil. Traditionally, it’s used to moisturise the hair but I don’t favour the coconut after-smell on my head. Neither would my husband, I bet. And I prefer extra virgin coconut oil, but it usually solidifies in cool temperature. And even in warm climate like ours, they can feel pretty thick and uncomfortable.
Fortunately, with Daionica coconut oil, that’s not a problem as there are a few scents to choose from and because the oil is fractionated. According to Annmarie Gianni, fractionated coconut oil is a form of the oil that has had the long-chain fatty acids removed via hydrolysis and steam distillation. Just this one change makes the oil liquid at room temperature, and extends the product’s shelf life.
So, what do I use it for? I use it to moisturise my hands and for body massage. I have been guilty of neglecting my hands for decades, to their detriment, and Daionica coconut oil works fine so far. Fractionated coconut oil really is different – it’s light and absorbs quickly into the skin without clogging pores. No more feeling of excessive oiliness or greasiness.
Daionica Coconut Oil is said work as:
- skin moisturiser
- make-up remover
- anti-aging eye serum
- hair de-frizzer
- after-sun lotion
Since I already have the wonderful Miessence range of skincare products, I sometimes use this coconut oil to soften my hair – absolutely love the scent!
What is Ylang Ylang?
As I mentioned before, there are a couple of wonderful scents to choose from (natural, lavender, rose and ylang ylang). Naturally, I tried out each scent and I actually thought I would have picked the usuals such as Lavender or Rose. But no, immediately after inhaling it’s exquisite scent, I decided that I loved Ylang Ylang the best. I was informed by the person in charge that they used Ylang Ylang essential oil, not synthetic fragrance. Great! Synthetic fragrance is believed to be a hormone disruptor, so I try to avoid it whenever possible.
Do you know what Ylang Ylang is? Before that day, I honestly didn’t. The nice young lady said that Ylang Ylang is a scent extracted from Cananga odorata,or popularly known here as Bunga Kenanga.
The benefits of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
As mentioned in a previous article, I believe in the benefits of pure essential oils (EO) and they really are better and safer than synthetic fragrance. According to the renowned Dr Axe, Ylang Ylang essential oils are also believed to have many beneficial properties such as:
- Increasing blood flow
- Prevent signs of aging (mixed with carrier oil)
- Relieving inflammation
- Fighting parasites
- Regulating heartbeat
- Healing cardiac problems
- Mood enhancer (effective antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic and sedative)
- Promoting healthy intestinal function, etc.

Notice the last, but certainly not least, important benefit? Aphrodisiac massage rub! How excellent! Now, I gotta get me some sandalwood EO…
Another factor that made me grab a bottle of Daionica Coconut Oil is its certifications, which includes USDA Organic certification. Organic certification is a huge thing, not easy to get. Please refer to my previous post for more info on certification. Admin of Skincare Terbaik has a huge amount of respect and trust on proper organic certifications.
