Just before the CNY holidays, I splurged (by my humble standard) on clothing at Zalora, a natural facial wash at Lush and some toiletries at Hermo. Online shopping is definitely perilous to my wallet! Perhaps it’s because of the holiday spirit, and coming soon, we’ll be having another celebration. So before Raya comes, here I am to share my online acquisitions from Zalora; and perhaps in a later post, Lush and Hermo as well.
Wearables from Zalora
Yeay, I can share clothes with my kids! Sometimes, I get hand-me-downs from them too, when they grew out of their clothes. Hahaha! Usually, it’s the other way round, right? Not me! So, last CNY eve, while waiting for darling Hubby to fetch me, I used the spare time browsing discounted clothings at Zalora.
Why I like shopping from Zalora
I have happily shopped at Zalora many times before. I like shopping for clothes at Zalora because:
- the measurements are specified, including the size of the clothes that the model was wearing and her height. That makes it easy to make a rough estimation and comparison. I know my measurements, more or less.
- there are always discounts. I seldom buy normal-priced items.
- I am too lazy to go to physical stores and try-out clothes – too tiring. Except for lingerie because buying those items online is usually a hit-or-miss experience.
- the quality is good to excellent.
- convenience, of course! No need to travel and go through the hassle of parking, etc. I could shop during lunch break or while waiting for hubby. Anytime, anywhere.
All those factors have helped me to shop for clothes that I know would fit me and both my girls.
That’s me and my second youngest child. She’s 15 now, taller and bigger than me. That’s why I chose to stand on a higher ground – so this petite mama tak nampak pendek sangat! All of my children are taller than me except for our youngest. We are showing off our new cardigans from Zalora and my Radiusite shawl. That’s one of the perks of having kids who are almost your size – you can share clothes.
Online Acquisitions from Zalora
Ta-daa…! Here are some of the clothes that I bought for us. Total costs was about RM362, including free postage. Not bad considering the quality of the material. Most of these were made in European countries. I am happy to report that, even after a few washings, they still retain their shape and colour.
Those cardigans in the middle are from the same brand, same design and of the same sizes, but the black one cost considerably less than the pink. They are very light, airy and comfy. The only thing I wasn’t quite happy about are the tiny holes designed around the upper sleeve area, which can be quite revealing when up close.
My favourite is the black blouse on the left which is suitable for both formal and informal occasions. I like to pair the blouse with leggings or jeans. I’m not worried about the low plunging neckline because that can easily be covered with my hijab.
Sleeveless Blouses or Dresses
I pair these sleeveless blouse/dresses with the above cardigans or other long-sleeved shirts in my wardrobe. The floral black and white dress is so pretty but is also a bit of a challenge. It’s not stretchy at all. And there’s no zip, only one button at the back. If I accumulate excess fat or I gain extra weight, I wouldn’t be able to fit into it. Same goes with my girls.
The navy and pink blouse above are of the same design, but the sizes are a bit different, XS and S respectively. I like the tiny white stitching at the edge of the blouse. They are quite stretchy and comfy. As for the striped blouse, it’s only a bit stretchy but it cost less than RM20.
Leggings and Skirt
Frankly, it has been quite some time since I bought myself any skirt, so it’s high time. The skirt above may look short, but that’s because the model is very tall and slim. Nonetheless, I chose M size, just to be safe. Fortunately, it’s the right length for me and reaches my ankle, though the waistline is an inch or two bigger. Nothing that a bit of alteration can’t remedy.
As for the leggings, also M size – it fits me perfectly. I bought it at RM18.90 and I can hardly believe it because the usual price is RM53! I usually dislike leggings because my previous experience wearing them was really uncomfortable – itchy and hot. But lucky for me, this one is cotton blend and breathable. I really love wearing it.
My Honest Review
The things I like most about buying from Zalora is the quality, price and wide range of options. I have bought shoes, bags, clothes, pins, etc. Except for my first purchase of Raya shoes for the girls many, many years ago, I honestly enjoy buying from Zalora, The return policy is also quite simple. Once, my sister bought a dress from Zalora, which she didn’t like wearing – she was able to return it, no fuss.
So, if you’ve never made any purchase from Zalora, I’d recommend you have a look and enjoy ogling at the wide variety of choices. And there are also special discounts for first timers, too.
